Flashback Friday: Connecting the Dots, Realcomm Was Already Building the Roadmap for a Digital Real Estate Industry The Flashback Friday series continues, and this week the clock turns back to another pivotal chapter in the Realcomm story. The year is 2002. June 17-19, 2002. Paris Resort. Las Vegas, Nevada. The dot-com bubble had burst. The industry was bruised. And a lot of voices were telling commercial real estate to slow down, pull back, and wait for the dust to settle. Realcomm had a different message. The theme that year was Connecting the Dots. Because the technology was not the problem. The pieces were already in place. What the industry needed was education, adoption, and the courage to keep moving forward even when the headlines said otherwise. Over 50 sessions and workshops filled the program. Case studies took center stage, putting real practitioners in front of real results rather than theoretical possibilities. Internet smart buildings. Digital transactions. Facility management. Property management. The conversations happening in those rooms were years ahead of where the broader industry would eventually catch up. The exhibit floor was packed with the industry’s most forward thinking solution providers and the commercial real estate leaders who knew that standing still was not an option. The energy in that room told a story of an industry that refused to give up on its digital future. That is what Realcomm has always done. Show up when it matters most. Keep the conversation moving. Connect the right people at the right time. 24 years later, that commitment has never wavered. Join us as the story continues at Realcomm IBcon 2026 in San Diego. Cybersecurity in the built environment has reached an inflection point. What was once a technical concern managed by IT teams has evolved into a business risk that touches every system and asset. As buildings become more integrated and data-driven, the attack surface expands and the operational stakes increase. At Realcomm IBcon 2026, the Cybersecurity Forum is where the industry engages in this reality openly and candidly. This year, the forum is part of the core conference program, taking place on the main stage with no competing sessions. It is a shared priority for every attendee in San Diego. More importantly, the forum reflects the realities operators are dealing with today. It is shaped by practitioners navigating the actual challenges of the built environment: • Securing converged IT and OT environments • Managing risk across legacy infrastructure portfolios • Addressing emerging threats including AI-driven attack vectors • Translating cyber posture into business-level accountability The dialogue is grounded in operational experience rather than hypotheticals. In a connected building environment, security is not isolated. It is collective. The Cybersecurity Forum takes place Wednesday, June 3 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Everyone Is Talking About AI. Very Few Are Actually Doing Anything With It. Realcomm IBcon 2026 Is Where That Changes. Scroll through any industry feed right now and AI is everywhere. In the headlines. In the keynotes. In the thought leadership pieces that all seem to say the same thing with different fonts. But here is what rarely makes it into those conversations. The messy, unglamorous, incredibly important work of actually making AI function inside a real estate portfolio. The data readiness. The governance frameworks. The gap between IT and OT that nobody warned you about. The moment an organization moves from experimenting with AI to operationalizing it at scale. Realcomm has been building that room for nearly three decades. An organization with over 25 years of history in CRE technology does not chase trends. It recognizes them early and builds programming around them before the rest of the industry catches up. That is exactly what happened with AI in 2016 when this community was already on stage examining its long-term implications while most had never heard the term machine learning in a real estate context. Since then the work has never stopped. Advisory groups. Real-world case studies. Enterprise deployments documented not as possibilities but as results. The difference between organizations that lead and those that follow is rarely access to information. It is access to the right conversations with the right people at the right moment. That moment is Realcomm IBcon 2026. Register today and be in the room where strategy meets execution. realcomm.com/realcomm-2026/… #Realcomm2026 #CREtech #ArtificialIntelligence #TechREset #SmartBuildings

AI in the Built Environment: The Execution Phase The conversation around AI in the built environment has reached a turning point. While the industry has spent the last year exploring the “art of the possible,” the focus for 2026 is shifting toward operational rigor, end-user needs, and measurable execution. At Realcomm IBcon, we are helping lead this transition by ensuring that the AI conversation at the conference is driven by the people responsible for operating and managing real estate portfolios. Defining Your AI Journey To help navigate this Tech REset, the Realcomm AI Advisory Executive Group is curating a program designed to meet organizations at every stage of adoption. Foundational (Beginner) Mastering data readiness and leveraging GenAI to improve day-to-day operational workflows. Integrated (Intermediate) Scaling predictive maintenance, analytics, and bridging the gap between IT and OT systems. Autonomous (Advanced) Exploring agentic AI and the emerging potential for autonomous building operations across portfolios. That's what's driving the program in San Diego this June, but the focus remains on the practical application of these technologies. Realcomm Advisory Council Co-Chair Joseph Martino, VP, IT, Primaris REIT, describes the shift in perspective: “In the current landscape, AI is the ultimate ‘Tech REset’ tool. It’s not just about the technology itself, it's about the business value we unlock from the data. What makes the Realcomm IBcon community unique is that the AI agenda isn’t defined by vendors or hype cycles. It’s defined by the people who operate buildings and portfolios every day. The members of the Realcomm AI Advisory Executive Group are focused on moving past the noise to ensure that AI becomes a functional, value-added layer of the enterprise.” Join the Conversation For many organizations, the question is no longer whether AI will matter. The real interest now is in how it is actually being applied across buildings and portfolios. At Realcomm IBcon 2026, owners, operators, and technology leaders will share the real-world deployments and lessons shaping the future of the built environment. Join the industry’s leading AI conversation this June. realcomm.com/realcomm-2026/… #realcomm2026 #artificialintelligence #ai #sandiego #cretech

Flashback Friday: Before PropTech Had a Name, Realcomm Was Leading the Conversation Another installment of Flashback Friday is here, and this week we travel back to the year 2000 in the Realcomm story. In June 2000, industry leaders gathered in Dallas, Texas at Adam’s Mark Hotel for Realcomm, continuing what would become one of the longest running and most comprehensive technology programs in the commercial real estate industry. Even then, the event was showcasing ideas that were ahead of their time. Attendees saw Keyhole, a mapping technology that would later become Google Earth. Realcomm also hosted the first live webcast in the commercial and corporate real estate industry, allowing people to experience the event remotely. The conference even introduced the first teleportation style presentation in CRE, bringing a remote speaker virtually onto the stage. Moments like these are part of what has made Realcomm a cornerstone of the CRE technology industry for nearly three decades. The conversations have evolved, but the goal has always been the same. Bring the industry together to explore what comes next. Join us as the story continues at Realcomm IBcon 2026 in San Diego. Call for Digie Nominations The year was 2002. “PropTech” wasn’t part of the vocabulary. Most enterprise real estate systems were still on-premise, and for many building operators, “the cloud” was something you looked at through a window. That same year, a small geospatial company called Keyhole stood on the Realcomm stage, accepting a Digie Award for its EarthViewer technology. Two years later, Google acquired Keyhole. The platform evolved into what the world now knows as Google Earth. The award recognized an early shift toward spatial intelligence, technology that would ultimately transform how assets, infrastructure, and cities are understood and managed. 28 Years of Industry Foresight Since 1999, the Digie Awards have documented the digital evolution of commercial real estate. While trends come and go, the Digies have consistently recognized technologies and leaders that create lasting operational impact. The Digies are grounded in three enduring principles: Longevity For over a quarter century, we have evaluated real-world deployments across portfolios, not slide decks. We understand the difference between experimentation and structural change. Pattern Recognition From early web-based platforms to wireless convergence, digital twins, and enterprise AI, the Digies have consistently identified the signals shaping the next operating model. Credibility A Digie nomination places your organization alongside innovators whose work redefined how real estate is automated, managed, secured, and experienced. Who is the “Keyhole” of 2026? AI-driven enterprise operations. Decarbonization infrastructure. Cyber resilience at the building layer. Data architectures that enable agentic workflows. The industry is entering another inflection point: a Tech REset. We are seeking the leaders and solutions shaping the next operating model of real estate. The search is officially open. Nominations are due on or before May 11, 2026. realcomm.com/realcomm-2026/… #realcomm2026 #digieawards #sandiego #cre #cretech

Flashback Friday: Where It All Began Today we’re kicking off a new series as we look back at Realcomm through the years. And there’s no better place to start than the very first conference in 1999. June 17–18, 1999. Chicago Hyatt Regency O’Hare. The mission was bold then and still resonates today: to facilitate the transformation of commercial real estate into the digital model of the 21st century and to provide real technology solutions for executives, professionals, and support staff. At a time when the internet was still new to many businesses, Realcomm was already focused on helping CRE leaders modernize operations, introduce new products and services, and influence technology strategy for the next century. The exhibit floor was described as fast-paced and fully wired. Specialty exhibits were built after months of research across major technology and real estate trade shows to ensure only the most relevant and impactful solutions were showcased. Exhibitors reported nonstop deal making and real prospects filling their booths. The energy was real. The urgency for change was real. And the commitment to pushing the industry forward was clear from day one. From that first gathering in 1999 to today, the mission has remained consistent: connect the industry with the technology shaping its future.
