This might be hard to believe, but In Japan, a salaryman earns the money. His wife manages all of it. She gives him an allowance. About $7 a day. He buys lunch, maybe a coffee, maybe a manga. If he's unlucky, it's $3.50 a day. They call him a "one-coin husband." He earned the money. He asks permission to spend it.
