Early stroll. I imagine I am walking vertically, not horizontally. A half-eaten apple next to a fallen leaf. The breeze wrestles with the still air. A man carrie’s a tray of loaves from a van. An empty settee in a bright room.

Early stroll. I tread precisely and carefully, as though I’m chess piece. The Public Footpath sign points to darkness and mystery. The gritter’s comforting lights. A passing man seems to be clearing his throat in code. Clouds the colour of those old curtains you threw away.

@kidcobbler @IMcMillan That’s the plan Stephen. He’s no longer able to manage on his own, my place has too many stairs and unsuitable. If I can find somewhere close, I can visit every day. It’s a big, heartbreaking step, but necessary.
