I’ve never really understood why graphic design is treated the way it is in tech. Other roles—software engineers, UI/UX designers, even affiliate marketers—are usually given a level of respect and value. But when it comes to graphic design, it often feels different. People casually ask for “quick designs,” “just a logo,” or frame free work as some kind of “challenge,” like the skill behind it doesn’t matter. And honestly, it feels off to me. Because why is it that in the same space, some people are spoken to with respect and professionalism, while others are treated like their work is optional or insignificant? I’ve been thinking about this a lot— how did we even get to a point where graphic design is perceived this way? Who decided its value was any less? To me, this isn’t about the designers, it’s a perception problem. And the longer we normalize it, the harder it becomes to change.

Countless designers generously offered their skills and creativity for free, designed flyers for his wedding, dedicating time to his birthdays, yet none of them was selected. Let's extend some grace and assume it simply went unnoticed. But one has to wonder, what would it truly cost to seek out a talented designer and compensate them properly for their craft?
