A man in Pattaya reportedly confronted a Thai woman in a restaurant because he thought her symbol was connected to Nazi Germany. But in Thailand and many parts of Asia, similar ancient symbols can have Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, or cultural meanings connected to good fortune, well-being, and spirituality. Yes, the Nazi use of the symbol is hateful and should never be ignored. But context matters. You cannot travel to another country, misunderstand local culture, attack someone, and then call it “content.” Ask first. Learn first. Respect first.
