‼️A must read. Most egregious is the entirely silent provincial Medical Health Officer Kieran Moore. If he can’t advocate to save these sites based on science he should resign. Same for Dr Dirk Huyer, Chief Coroner of Ontario.

This is being done with debt financing and equity from the government. In other words, public money being handed to a newly-formed private capital fund so they can buy up condos and rent them out at full market rate.

It is important to identify that this years winter response is actually much worse then previous years as the city cut over 2000 beds from the system throughout 2025. This means there was over 2000 less spaces available this winter then last year.

@AHomelessDocCAN Despite additional cots being available for much of January due to warming centres being open, the city turned away 30 people on average every single from a shelter bed. The system is broken. People can’t get emergency shelter in this city when they need it.
