Only 185 Claude Laurent glass flutes survive worldwide today and 20 of the rare instruments are in the Library’s Dayton C. Miller Collection. One of them, made for President James Madison in honor of his second inauguration, has a bit of a mystery 🧐 surrounding it. 🧵
