🚨 They can never say it’s just ‘one bad farm’ EVER again. Over a 10-month period, we secretly filmed at Cranswick-owned Somerby Top Farm. This is where piglets born at Northmoor Farm, which we exposed in our previous Project Pig campaign, go to be fattened prior to being slaughtered at Cranswick’s Preston slaughterhouse; where they are gassed to death. Ultimately they are sold as products such as ‘bacon’ and ‘sausages’ in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda. And shockingly, Somerby Top Farm is a Red Tractor-assured facility. Red Tractor even conducted an audit during the time of our investigation, yet the suffering continued. Our investigation exposes: 🐖 Boredom and frustration driving pigs to cannibalism. 🐖 Severely lame pigs with untreated hernias, infected wounds, and breathing problems. 🐖 Violence by workers — punching, kicking, and hitting pigs with paddles. 🐖 Filthy, damp concrete cells with almost no ‘enrichment’. 🐖 Lame and sick pigs forced onto slaughter trucks in breach of the law. 🐖 Young pigs left to suffer in the “kill room” without even a check for signs of life. We believe that the Welfare of Farmed Animals (England) Regulations 2007, the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and DEFRA’s Code of Practice for the Welfare of Pigs have all been breached. As such, we are actively pursuing justice. This video is hard to watch. But bearing witness to their suffering is the least we can do. Please repost this investigation so as many people as possible learn about the reality of ‘high welfare’, ‘Red Tractor assured’ pig farms. This is not one bad farm.
