Today we honor the memory of First Nations woodcarver John T. Williams, who was shot and killed by an SPD officer on this day 14 years ago. His death culminated in CPC’s creation, and we carry the memory of Williams and other victims of police misconduct in everything we do.

Last week CPC’s Jo-Nathan Thomas attended Seattle’s Night Out—a national crime prevention event offering a great chance to learn about crime prevention, spend time with neighbors, and talk about neighborhood safety.

Heavy hearts at City Hall with the passing of Jim Hilles. What a great human being. Jim kept our staff and building safe, made sure we were always doing well and was one of the most kind people. Our prayers are with his family. We will miss him at city hall ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Last month CPC Community Engagement Team had a nice visit with the Filipino Community Village Forum, which is a senior housing facility setting where CPC shared about our work, the police accountability system, and how the community can uplift their voice for reform.

CPC Community Engagement's Jo-Nathan Thomas recently attended the BSafe Community Block Party, where youth and families in @rainierbeach gathered, engaged in fun activities, built positive connections, honored local youth lost to gun violence, and signed a pledge to be safe.

CPC Community Engagement Director Felicia Cross (center) attended the Leschi Community Council Meeting on a beautiful Seattle evening recently for engaging, conversational, informative, and inclusive interactions with the community.

CPC staff attended the Rainier Beach Action Coalition (RBAC) Annual Fundraising Luncheon to hear inspiring stories, eat delicious food, and learn about ongoing initiatives. A great group representing many different communities—all coming together to support RBAC.
