All wars end with negotiation, but it's hard to negotiate when the other side's bargaining position is "you all die and disappear."

1/3 Resigning, a Hanukkah Message: As of today I have resigned from the antisemitism advisory committee at Harvard. Without rehashing all of the obvious reasons that have been endlessly adumbrated online, and with great respect for the members of the committee, the short explanation is that both events on campus and the painfully inadequate testimony reinforced the idea that I cannot make the sort of difference I had hoped.  Still, there are several points worth making. I believe Claudine Gay to be both a kind and thoughtful person.  Most of the students here wish only to get an education and a job, not prosecute ideological agendas, and there are many, many honorable, thoughtful and good people at the institution.  Harvard is still a repository of extraordinary minds and important research.

@highaski @RabbiWolpe Actions speaks louder than words. Thank you for matching your eloquent and clear minded words with your action to resign from the antisemitism advisory committee at Harvard. You have added light to the festival of lights.

Thank you, Rabbi. May we all be willing to exercise more thoughtfulness in our words and actions, so that we can build a better world and sense of community in partnership with one another. Your words and actions have inspired so much hope. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous Hanukkah.

Doctor states Errol Spence Jr. should never have been allowed to fight Crawford because of “residual neurological damage” as a result of a series of car accidents, the most severe in 2019 that landed Spence in the ICU and hospitalized for 3weeks. youtube.com/watch?v=ShViAK….

@MichaelBensonn @ShowtimeBoxing For once a boxer--Errol Spence-- questions the ridiculous "sanctioning fees" boxers are forced to pay for the "privilege" of fighting for an organization's title belt. The boxers have earned that right by their blood and sweat. They shouldn't have to pay a dime to these thieves.

@TrisDixon Forget the "lift your arms up" question! Every referee in the world should use the "walk to me" instruction given to the fighter when he gets up. And then say "now take two steps to the side", as refs are supposed to do in N.Y and Jersey. Any faltering automatically ends it.

It also makes me think we need a slightly tougher question that can you lift your arms up as a sign a fight should go on…. I’ve seen that hundreds of times and the guy’s in no state to go on with his gloves by his cheeks. 2/2

It’s a good stoppage IF Wood gets sparked out when it resumes. It’s a bad stoppage IF Wood makes it back to his corner and recuperates. I think Ben did the right thing. But it also looked like the referee got the answers the way he needed to and he didn’t make the call 1/2

People talking about last night’s stoppage and one more shot… it’s not just the short-term implications of hospital etc, but the long term neurodegenerative issues. Davison might have saved Wood from second impact syndrome and symptoms that would manifest themself years later.

@heroesboxing What makes you think the referee would have walked him back? Most referees today don't do that. It's possible the ref would have simply stepped away--or not. Better not to have him make that choice. Davison made the right call. Wood needed Oxygen in the ring afterwards!
