Bijzondere en verstrekkende uitspraak van het Europese Hof voor de Rechten vd Mens. In de zaak van de Zwiterse KlimaSeniorinnen heeft de Zwiterse overheid hun zaak niet serieus behandeld (schending art 6) en is art 8 EVRM van toepassing (recht op gezinsleven etc)!

This is a photo of Leo Tolstoy on the road, traveling from Moscow to Yasnaya Polyana in 1886. I was reading his novella, "Family Happiness" (1859), when I came across this passage that brought a sense of calmness over me when I needed it the most: "I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor - such is my idea of happiness. And then, on top of all that, you for a mate, and children, perhaps - what more can the heart of a man desire?" Digging a bit further into his life, I discovered that Tolstoy was a vegetarian, which went hand-in-hand with his love for nature. While two of his children also took up the pledge to not eat meat, Tolstoy's wife and aunt did not. However, Tolstoy never pressured them to convert as he believed that people were accountable for themselves and had the right to make their own decisions. This, however, did not stop him from teasing them. One time when his aunt came over for dinner, she found a knife and a live chicken in her chair. "We knew you wanted chicken, but none of us would kill it," said Tolstoy.
