Taking your project from an indie YouTube series to the big screen is already massive, but keeping original vision and authenticity by writing and directing it yourself almost never happens at this scale. Genuinely an insane achievement. This is the kind of dream many internet creators strive for, and as someone who spent years solo grinding entire projects, seeing that actually materialize for another creator is really inspiring. Hopefully, Backrooms receiving this level of acclaim and commercial success sends a clear message to the industry: creator-led projects can reach incredible results when given the right opportunity and support. Huge respect to Kane, A24, and everyone involved.

I hate this notion that we now have to retroactively dislike and hate a movie because the director has came out promoting AI instead of acknowledging the bountiful amount of other talentful artists that helped said movie come alive, yes do not support their work going-

I also will say I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for this, if Gareth says anything similar to this again, I'm DONE, as much as I like Godzilla 2014 and as much as I think Rebirth is ok, I will never accept AI as a substitute for humans, ever.

Mind you I do think AI is still stupid here, and that ideally he wouldn't be using it at all, but this was definitely blown out of proportion I DO hope the backlash becomes big though (without harassment), as an example to Hollywood that AI is NOT welcome anywhere

Turns out the actual article just says that he doesn't even actually use it besides for asking if certain concepts are interesting for an audience (which is still dumb tbh) and he himself says AI won't replace humans and won't make you a film director Kind of a nothingburger

@Springmorb Well, he was on a whole panel talking about it for I don't know how long. It lacks a direct quote saying that exact thing, but there's more than enough context here in my opinion.
