Odolaye Aremu is, to me, the greatest traditional artist of all time. His music is not just for listening,it teaches history, praises his fans in a unique way, and carries deep Yoruba language you can hardly find anywhere else. He can even create songs on the spot (Awokii), and his music is always rich and meaningful without being noisy.He stands at the top of the Dadakuada music genre, both among the living and those who have passed on. There are also other great Dadakuada artists like the late Jaigbade Alao, Alalaye Ilorin, and Opeloyeru Odolaye Aremu, including others whose names may not be mentioned here. Kudos to Baba Tunbosun Oladapo for discovering and promoting many of these legendary artists. I hope to start a record label soon where I can find and support young indigenous talents, so this beautiful tradition can continue.
