These NEC TOKIN replacement PCBs are supposed to be 0.8mm thick, which will leave a gap so that your new capacitors are not pressing themselves against the metal shield.

Tantalizers are cool, but beware of illiterate sellers who don't read instructions and order the default 1.6mm thick PCB from oshpark, and proceed to charge you $100 for something that isn't going to even fit properly in your PS3.

The differences to look for when buying Playstation connectors that can easily insert into the PS1 by removing unused pins. It looks they are making them worse by thickening the metal part, and that makes it nearly impossible to insert or remove from the PS1.

@jeffqchen @tigheklory @BitsUndBolts I heard Amtech is now rebranded as STIRRI. I got some and it performs similarly to genuine Amtech, and sort of smells better too? Either way, I actually prefer flux to have a smell so that if I do smell it, I know my filtration isn't working well enough.

@MrMario2011 @realradec My launch PS3 did the funniest thing and got the YLOD just before the outage! Watching all my friends on Facebook complain about not being able to play online was adorable.

@realradec I worked at game shop when this happened! People completely gave up on the PS3 by the end of that month. We had tons traded in for 360s and could barely move PS3s after that, while the 360s we could barely keep in stock.
