The progressive party likewise urged the Senate not to obstruct justice or provide political sanctuary, but instead to surrender Dela Rosa so he may face accountability before the law. “Kung may warrant of arrest na inilabas ang ICC, obligasyon ng gobyerno, bilang kasapi ng Interpol, na arestuhin si Senator Bato Dela Rosa, gaya ng nangyari kay Rodrigo Duterte. Akbayan said Dela Rosa’s sudden resurfacing after months of evading public scrutiny amid reports of a looming ICC warrant exposes the growing desperation within the Duterte camp to consolidate control of the Senate leadership in order to shield Vice President Sara Duterte from the impeachment proceedings expected to reach the chamber. “If the ICC issues a warrant of arrest, Philippine authorities must execute it immediately and without hesitation. The Senate has no right to stand above international law or shield those accused of crimes against humanity.
