Opening Day at the Vet. In the spring of 1971, the Philadelphia Phillies opened the gates at Veterans Stadium for the very first time, beginning more than three decades of baseball history. Thirty-two years later, on April 4, 2003, the @Phillies honored that legacy during the Vet's final home opener. Taking the field in 1971 throwback uniforms, Philadelphia paid tribute to the era when the iconic ballpark first became home. The opposing Pirates joined the celebration in their own 1977 retros, creating a vivid time capsule of 1970s Baseball. The afternoon drew a crowd of 59,269 fans, eager to relive the past while celebrating the final chapter at the Vet. The throwbacks featured classic red pinstripes, the bold maroon “P,” and front uniform numbers characteristic of early-1970s Phillies Baseball. Established star @JimmyRollins11 anchored the infield, while a young @chaseurtheman26 made his official Major League debut. Beautiful card. Arrived today. Another unlicensed gem for PC. That said... @KSlash10 has one of the nicest autographs I've seen. Many young players autos are terrible Is it because they didnt grow up learning cursive? Or is it laziness? Or something else? I understand these guys sign piles of cards... but @Topps should step up and have some standards. Pickens takes the cake for me, although the Frank Gore Jr. Yuck. Who else has 💩 autographs? @CardPurchaser
