Насамперед вона стала знаком поваги до українського народу, який платить надзвичайно високу ціну за свою свободу, незалежність і право жити у власній державі. Саме тому будь-які спроби переглянути це рішення сьогодні виходять далеко за межі ставлення до одного політика. The President of Poland explained the decision to strip Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle “We know what war is, we know what the struggle for independence is, we know what the post-Soviet — and today Russian — threat is. But we are a proud Polish nation and we have our own threshold of pain in matters that concern us and our allies. And that threshold of pain was exceeded, which is why I stripped President Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.” At the moment, former Ukrainian presidents Leonid Kuchma and Viktor Yushchenko have declined the Order of the White Eagle in solidarity with Zelensky. Ukrainian politicians and officials are also massively refusing other Polish state awards.

⚡️Former 🇺🇦Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma (1994 - 2005) also refused the 🇵🇱Order of the White Eagle. "Ukraine did not fight Russia, which justified its invasion with historical claims, only for other countries to dictate our history today and determine whom we should honor." At the same time, Kuchma expressed hope that friendship and alliance relations between Ukraine and Poland will be preserved despite current disagreements.
