@jennivanrees It truly is critical. It's always such a balance of when and how for handwriting for me. Sometimes development plays a role in K.

Great podcast!
“Fluent writing of alphabetic letters in first grade predicts the quality of writing compositions in fourth grade”
Wasn’t on writing specifically, but I really liked this quote and reminded me of the handwriting articles I recently shared. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/edv…

@avivaloca @MarshallJ2032 We have been on a big learning investigation about inclusion of visuals for phonological skills and phonemic awareness. Visual representation of language supports so many learners.

Had the greatest conversation with @MarshallJ2032 and Lina N. today about UFLI, CRRP, equity, & the use of visuals to support some learners. Such rich dialogue! ❤️ Grateful for mentorship and the opportunity to connect with other reading specialists.

@avivaloca I do believe our Acadience data has supported our instruction and understanding of students needs!

@mrs_orchard @UFLiteracy Absolutely. There is always learning to be had in everything we do!
English

@TracyPick @UFLiteracy Yes, I can see your point! This was only the second passage we tried, but we had to talk a lot about maps, and why people put a pin in, and describing the tin! Many Ss had not heard of that before.
English

I’ve loved using the @UFLiteracy program, and the resources that come with it. We’ve only done 9 lessons so far, but imagine how far Ss will go when the program is implemented starting in the fall! #fdk #ufli #sor #literacy

Math in #Kindergarten - we talked about how 1 and 2 is the same as 3 while building silly number block characters. We went on to see what new numbers we could make by adding 1 to different numbers. "___ and 1 more is ____" fun, short, intentional and playful! @howwrdsb

A shift in language from "I see, I think, I wonder" during PD today. I wonder how the responses might shift during the process @apples4theteach

Last year these beautiful portraits were made by a kindergarten class taught by @TracyPick from Passionately Curious Educators. I am thinking of making bigger sets with more colours and materials. Comment if you are interested!

Fellow SoR journeyers…
Did something come home from school that doesn’t align to what you’ve been learning? I encourage a pause before posting it and shaming the teacher or school. #todaysreflections
