Turing awarded £1.7M to convene new community of data professionals The Alan Turing Institute has been awarded £1.7M by UKRI to establish a national network of professionals who work in data, such as data stewards, data librarians, data wranglers and data engineers.

Tickets are still on sale for AI UK 2024, the annual national showcase of the UK's data science and AI ecosystem, which convenes on 19-20 March at Westminster's Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.

Professor Marc Deisenroth, from the UCL Centre for AI, will lead the Environment and Sustainability Grand Challenge which aims to find solutions to decarbonisation and environmental systems.

The Turing’s work is centred around three Grand Challenges focusing on environment and sustainability, health, and defence and national security, backed by a continued commitment to fundamental AI and data science research.

The Turing has appointed 4 new Directors to address society’s biggest challenges through data science and AI. The announcement is a key milestone in implementing the Turing’s new strategy which shapes how the Institute will use data science and AI for social good.
