Congratulations to Shu-Ching Chen, Ph.D., professor and executive director of the Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center for being inducted to the 2025 Class of the @aimbe College of Fellows! He was nominated, reviewed and elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows for outstanding contributions to the development of AI and machine learning with applications and tools in biomedical engineering. Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to medical and biological engineers, comprised of the top two percent of engineers in these fields

Meet Scooby! The UMKC Baja Racing team unveiled the 2025 competition buggy last week.🛞The team designed and built Scooby to participate in off-road racing competitions to test their engineering skills.

Meet 'The Nautilus'! The UMKC Concrete Canoe team unveiled their 2025 canoe at the American Society of Civil Engineers regional competition. 🛶

Members from the UMKC American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) chapter were recently in Nebraska for the ASCE student symposium! During the event, some members competed in the concrete bowling ball competition and won third-place. 🎳💥

Some of our urban planning and design students joined 5,000 other urban planning professionals in Denver, Colorado, for the @APA_Planning 2025 National Planning Conference! The conference included professional meetings, presentations on contemporary issues, and debates on urban planning topics. Networking opportunities included nightly receptions with events sponsored by the Missouri and Kansas chapters of the American Planning Association.

Congratulations to graduate students Jayadithya Nalajala, Murali Krish and Mysore Rahul for winning first place at the Midwest Block-a-Thon, a 20-hour blockchain hackathon, under the general track category! The team impressed the judges with their innovative project titled “Block-a-Tick: Secure, Decentralized Event Ticketing on the Blockchain – Where Every Ticket is a Unique NFT Experience.” Their project redefines event ticketing by utilizing blockchain to ensure security, ownership and transparency, making every ticket a one-of-a-kind NFT. The team took home a $1,500 prize and the title of Best Hack of the entire event.

Nonso Isoh is an international student pursuing his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at UMKC. His engineering skills aren’t just limited to the classroom.
