Noah shows that using a bulk semiconductor absorber in a guided mode resonance architecture, significant enhancement in response for both TE and TM polarized incident light can be achieved. These detectors use absorbers 150 or 250 nm thick, ~1/20th of the free-space wavelength!

Every initiative is (at best) unrelated, or (more frequently) diametrically opposed, to University's core mission Uni Mission: Generation/Dissemination of Knowledge. Admin Mission: Assembling large staff, collecting paychecks, glossy brochures touting Potemkim initiatives.

Meanwhile, all the higher-up administrators care about is football, reducing diversity, football, and collecting their (massive) paychecks. These people think that the University exists for them, to provide their high-paying jobs and stepping stones to the next position.

@UTAustin is putting on a full-day celebration to mark joining a athletic conference (seriously, feat. Pitbull), yet so understaffed to perform the actual mission of the University that our Office of Sponsored Projects just set up an account for an award that ended 1 month ago.

EMC 2024 at @UofMaryland kicking off with a fantastic plenary from Dr. Joseph Berry of @NREL on “A Perovskite Paved Pathway to Multi-Terawatt scale Photovoltaics”. Great way to kick off three days of talks, posters, panels, and friends!

So proud of this kid, how hard he worked in the classroom and on the court, and how carefully and seriously he took the whole process!!

Finally, we demonstrate that these 'diluted' metals can serve as 'phase doping layers' able to modify the effective optical thickness of dielectric spacers, enabling spectral tuning of the absorber response. Analytical and numerical results are supported with experimental data.
