The Total War series of games is good. I played Medieval, Medieval 2 and Empire for ages when I was younger. They just had a few key things missing. No realistic command and control or operational level maneuver. You just order giant doom stacks around, they go where you tell them and you usually just march directly towards the enemy army or their main city. Not much emphasis on skirmishes, raids, foraging and the other things that these armies actually spent their time doing. It wasn't all big set-piece battles. In fact these were rare. I get that they're more "cinematic" but they weren't the norm. Still, the Total War series was probably the best we history fans could hope for in a PC game for the time.

For a long time I've wanted to write something that talks about the connection between gaming and hip hop, and how that childhood console was a pure escapism that kept many working class boys safe + away from trouble. Beyond proud I've finally done it with this one.

It's National Play Monopoly Day! The battleship token in the classic version of Monopoly was modeled after USS Indiana (BB-1). The game piece was also used in the board games Conflict and Diplomacy. The Indiana was commissioned in 1895 and decommissioned in 1919. #monopoly
