Last Thursday, VACFSS held our annual Caregiver Summer Cultural Celebration—a heartfelt gathering where caregivers and children in care came together to connect, learn, and celebrate Indigenous culture through shared experiences and teachings!

What a wonderful day at the YAC Summer BBQ! Hosted by the VACFSS Youth Advisory Committee, this gathering brought together youth, caregivers, and community members to connect, share a delicious meal, and enjoy quality time together!

Our VACFSS Resources team had a wonderful time once again at Grandview Park celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with Britannia Community Services Centre! We’re grateful to the organizers, performers, and community members who made the day so vibrant and meaningful!

June 6 marks Blue Jean Jacket Day, a grassroots initiative to honour Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Men and Boys (MMEIMB). We honour the strength of families and advocates who continue to raise awareness and push for justice.

Last Thursday, we held Honouring the Journey of Our Youth—our annual gathering that celebrates the strength, resilience, and spirit of our young people. We’re proud to share these moments of connection. Thank you to all those who have supported them in every step of the way.

On Red Dress Day, or MMIWG2S, VACFSS joins in commemorating the lives stolen by colonial violence. Our commitment to the safety and rights of Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQ+ peoples guides our work every day. Today, and every day, we remember and honour those lost and missing.

Today, our community came together for the 34th Women’s Memorial March. In remembrance of MMIWG, this march aims to bring awareness, demand change, and draw community support. We are stronger together. VACFSS sends our gratitude to the organizers and everyone who joined.
