Overall, mangroves are disappearing 3 to 5 times faster than global forest losses. This mangrove day lets together raise awareness about mangroves and their importance as self-sustaining ecosystems. Together we can #protectourmangroves

WWF shared its catch monitoring & data collection system during a workshop on data management organized by the Ministry of Fisheries. This was to improve knowledge of production data collection methodology & to provide deconcentrated services with a common data collection system.

Participants at this week’s workshop embraced the concept of a regional network to build coastal community capacity at scale, concluding the week with a plan to roll out such a network. Well done and thank you to the many people and organisations involved!

Politically and economically, small-scale #fisheries struggle to compete with global operators. Lalaina endorsed #Madagascar’s community-centred approach that involves local stakeholders in the negotiations of these arrangements, so considering the needs of #coastal communities.
