And that can result in families suffering in silence. There's an unintended consequence of this law we have to acknowledge

I can’t believe Jasmin is actually advocating for bishops to be allowed to know of child SA cases and just… not say anything. The church had so thoroughly convinced members it can do no harm that this is a real take being shared with all seriousness I’m legitimately stunned.

@LDS_Dems @andynewmanlpc The church gave my dad a recommend while on trial for CSAM and kept it active after his conviction/while he was in prison. My bishop told my dad when I reported and I suffered for several more years. The church is in settlement talks with my lawyers over this. Hope this helps. 🫶🏻

@andynewmanlpc I think she is properly pointing out that it is complicated. I support mandatory reporting but we can also acknowledge that requiring clergy to report will result in fewer abusers confessing which can resort in more kids suffering in silence. There are unintended consequences
