LIRR service may shut down as early as May 16 if railroad unions go on strike. Avoid nonessential travel and work from home, if possible. The MTA will provide limited shuttle bus service on weekdays for essential workers and those who cannot telecommute. Learn more and see travel alternatives at mta.info/lirrstrike.

More than 50% of Arizonians on SNAP have been kicked off over the past year, including over 200,000 children. After the One Big Beautiful Bill, Arizona wanted to push as many residents as possible off of food stamps and into the workforce. Increased documentation, new review systems, and 80-hour work month requirements were part of Trump’s plan to combat fraud. But people who should be eligible still aren’t getting their benefits. One Arizona woman who was kicked out of the program was turned away from the state’s Department of Economic Security after waiting for four hours with a “backpack full of paperwork.” The agency demanded a written statement from her father explaining away the birthday money he gave her over Zelle.
