@MrFrostitute @foreverakevmon @ARedLionheart A lot of ppl misrepresent the point by saying its trying to control goth people doing sex work when thats not the point at all.
English

@bbhelpme3 @foreverakevmon @ARedLionheart Exactly that. I have no problem with sex work or being goth and doing sex work.
But if your entire brand is sexualising it to make a brand off it. That's kinda very anti goth. Especially when most their posts are close to pretending to SA and Sexually harasse people thirst trap
English

Nobody is saying you can’t do sex work as a goth. Sex work has been around for ages.
What we’re saying is, DON’T EXPLOIT THE LABEL for selfish reason(s). Goth has become a porn category due to the mis-representation from the media, which promotes stereotypes you’re encouraging.

That’s me and my friends 🥰🖤 @pinkychuwu @buttercupxcos @QueenNephi I think we do a good job of doing those things while also being able to have a fun time making content together 🥰
English

@MrFrostitute @foreverakevmon @ARedLionheart Also the problem isn’t even goths being sexual or doing sex work. Is solely using the label as a porn category that reduces the sub culture and people seem to not be able to understand that point
English

@foreverakevmon @ARedLionheart Yes most of us know that. Sex work and being goth is totally valid. It's the fact they literally don't partake in any other form of the culture they claim.
Like you can't be goth and not talk about social issues or not fight against the government. They never use Thier platform

@goth_pixi There are a lot of problematic porn tags and agencies lying acting like the creator are both problems in sex worker industry. Latter is more of an issue imo tho since it can be dangerous for the creator and also is literally just scamming people

@elladonella @itsbunniblack Taking inspiration from fetish fashion is not the same as existing as a porn category. I never once said that goth was this "pure" thing or that it doesnt have sexual elements. All I was critiquing was a subculture being reduced down to a porn category.
English

Goth wasn't 'reduced' to a sexualized category by the internet; it was birthed from one. The founders of the scene in 70s London literally bought their clothes from fetish shops that sold bondage gear and PVC. If you think the subculture was once this 'pure' thing that got ruined, you're the one revising history to fit a sanitized narrative that never existed

@itsbunniblack @elladonella Yes it is extremely common for subcultures to be reduced to porn categories. That doesn’t mean it’s fine or okay just because it is common. I was using goth because that’s what everyone is talking about atm.
English

@bbhelpme3 @elladonella Okay if u dont want it to be physical: Goth, Jock, Nerd, Prep, Hippie/Earthie, Clown, Cosplay, Urban/Street, Gal/Gyaru, im STRUGGLING to think of a single subculture that doesnt have porn categories
English

@itsbunniblack @elladonella Hair is a physical trait. Goth is an entire subculture. I just think turning an entire subculture into a porn category will change how people view the term goth
English

@itsbunniblack @elladonella Yes I understand adult content categorizes everything but that doesn’t mean those tags can be free from critique. All I was saying is subculture labels such as “goth” are being reduced to a fetish tag for marketing/promo. Also I’m not saying tags existing in porn are bad. Natural
English

@LanaTease @itsbunniblack The argument is that the goth subculture should not be dampened down into a porn category. People who want to find goth sexworkers can still find them just having it increasingly be known as a fetish category in the eyes of the public is bad

@thesabrinabanks @SenpaiS33d It’s not that they are wearing black or anything it’s the usage of the term “goth” in their promotion that people take issue with
English

@SenpaiS33d Please don’t put HEAD DRESS and wearing black clothes in the same category 😭
English

@elladonella @itsbunniblack point will lead to people to mainly associate goth with porn/fetish content and I think that’s problematic.
English

@elladonella @itsbunniblack I don’t argue that the goth subculture has always been provocative and had sexual elements. Personally I don’t care that most of the creators who are getting flak for this post wearing goth aesthetics. Tons of sexworkers do it. I just worry using the term “goth” as their selling
English

@elladonella @itsbunniblack I’m not telling any woman how to run their brand or express themselves. I’m critiquing the usage of the term “goth” in the context of sex work and as a fetish category because I think it ,even if unintentionally, flattens the subcultures meaning
English

Critiquing how a woman labels herself to find success is just a "polite" way of saying you want to control her business model.
Goth has used fetish aesthetics and camp to disrupt the "normal" world for over 40 years. Whether she’s using the term for promotion or as a lifestyle, she is owning her body and her brand.
It is ironic to claim you aren't making a moral statement while simultaneously trying to decide which "categories" of women are acceptable and which aren't. Attempting to gatekeep a subculture that was literally built on the freedom to be an outsider is the most conformist thing you could do. Stop policing the hustle and let people be spooky and successful on their own terms.
