Criminal Justice students from Bourne High School toured the Barnstable County Correctional Facility this week. The students saw a housing unit, the wood shop and they got to meet Sheriff Donna Buckley and our comfort dog Nix.

Program Profile
Music Therapy is talk therapy but more soulful. Inside the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, the incarcerated men select songs that resonate with them. Treatment Specialist A.J. DaLomba plays a few each Monday, and for an hour, they talk.

The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office is so much richer because of the volunteers who donate their time at the correctional facility and The Bridge Center. Thank you for taking the time to help people find new and healthier pathways. #volunteering #volunteer #volunteerspirit

Today the students in the Public Safety Explorer's Program toured the Hyannis Firefighters Headquarters and the Barnstable Police Department. The Explorer's Program is a 5-day program during school breaks that introduces 10 to 14-year-olds to careers in public safety.

For the past 24 years, Elder Steve Milton, of the First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ Inc. in Mashpee, has preached at the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office. Elder Milton said Jesus's resurrection is a great miracle. But his miracles still occur every day.

Congratulations to Destiny Centeio and Olivia Cram. They completed the BCSO Regional Emergency Communications Center Training Program after five months of intensive preparation in 911 call taking and dispatch procedures, beginning back on October 1.
