@Kiringhost yeah i mainly just meant wait until they were more calm, because im pretty sure blaming vgen is a knee jerk reaction. im glad they made it public so they could get the support they needed, 1500 is no joke to get stolen from you

the site is plastered with warnings about exactly this type of things happening 🙃

I'm in fucking tears. I just got a @_VGen_ commission, the user gave me a fake reference link and stole THOUSANDS of dollars from me. That was all of my money and then some. Literally all of my money in my bank account. I'm trying to contact my bank but I want to die

@namizard its genuinely not on vgen at this point, as the only thing they could really do is make it harder for clients to create accounts :/
there are way more warnings on vgen than the other commission services ive used, so it just feels wrong to blame vgen. vgen is always catching shit

Im gonna be honest the site isn't to blame when u get a suspicious link in a comm REQUEST claiming to be VGen.
VGen sends emails to its users to literally avoid falling for these.
This is like textbook most obvious phishing attempt I've ever seen, pls learn internet safety

@namizard @IsoPuppi i think its more about the fact they went to blame vgen instead of taking responsibility or being upset at the scammer. it really sucks this happened, and i pity them and hope they recover soon because this is a really awful thing to happen to anyone, regardless of whos at fault.

@IsoPuppi The site isn’t to blame, but we should focus on berating scammers and people who cause harm instead of making passive aggressive “this is the most textbook” claims at victims. This person made a mistake, we don’t need to socially shame them after literally having lost everything.

@bittybitey That might be true, but it's still something Vgen warns users about if they bothered reading.
It's sad it happened, but it's wrong of the artist to blame Vgen for something that's their own fault.

@crismlt with the phishing issue though, anyone can make a client account with relative ease,, otherwise getting commissions on vgen would suck.

@crismlt becoming an artist on vgen is hard, however, its become easier in some ways recently (and harder in others). they do try their best, but sometimes they make mistakes - people are human at the end of the day. plus some of these ai 'artists' didnt start out by using slop.

Why am I seeing so scandals with vgen? From Ai "artists" joining to scammers, I thought the site had a better way to filter ppl that joined....

@Cocogoatcutie_ i just double checked and unfortunately the reference section of requests is one of the only places on vgen where the phishing warning does not show up.
granted,, i think its missing mainly because its explicitly a link from the client, but i hope this causes a change to that.

@bittybitey Yeah, I feel totally bad for the artist, no one deserves that, but if they willingly gave away all the bank details in spite of Vgen's numerous warnings they just cannot be on the internet at all, tbh.

follow up on this, @_VGen_ could you please add a phishing warning on the reference section of requests. i think this probably couldve been avoided if that were the case.
might as well cover bases, even if it seems obvious the client sent the link. couldnt hurt imo

@Kiringhost to be fair i would be having the crashout of a century if this happened to me so i get it,, i just wish it wasnt public / they had given it a bit more time before making it public so they could get the support they need
