It is in our common interest to implement, without delay, a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water supply facilities. كثير منكم رأى اليوم هذا المشهد الذي ظنه البعض صاروخاً إيرانياً انشطارياً يتساقط على دبي بينما تتصدى له الدفاعات الجوية. في الحقيقة، هذه الضربة الإيرانية على دبي لم تكن سوى خدعة كلفت الإمارات عشرات الملايين من الدولارات وعشرات من صواريخها الاعتراضية. إيران أطلقت قنابل ضوئية حرارية عبر صاروخ باليستي بدون رأس متفجر، ما أجبر الصواريخ الاعتراضية الإماراتية على الخروج لمواجهة قنابل إيرانية ضوئية فارغة. العملية استنزفت على الأرجح عشرة صواريخ اعتراضية على الأقل، يتجاوز ثمن الواحد منها خمسة ملايين دولار، ويستغرق تصنيع الواحدة عدة أشهر. إيران تتلاعب بالدفاعات الجوية الأمريكية في المنطقة بشكل مهين ومحرج للغاية، والخليجيون بسبب غبائهم العسكري استنزفوا جزءاً ضخماً من مقدراتهم الاعتراضية بدون سبب وجيه حقيقي.

As our Commander in Chief, he is responsible for determining what is and is not an imminent threat, and whether or not to take action he deems necessary to protect the safety and security of our troops, the American people and our country.  The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for helping coordinate and integrate all intelligence to provide the President and Commander in Chief with the best information available to inform his decisions.  After carefully reviewing all the information before him, President Trump concluded that the terrorist Islamist regime in Iran posed an imminent threat and he took action based on that conclusion.
