I think you misspelled “Sorry I attacked you like that Dan. This is really more about my frustration with the 4-5 start. Keep up the good work”. 😁😉

Sean McVay on creating "togetherness": When you love the person next to you, effort stops being a requirement, and it becomes a reflex: ⚙️ Connection creates an extra gear. 🤝 Standards become shared, not forced. ❤️ Culture isn’t built in meetings, it’s forged thru relationships. You rise to the level of the people you’re connected to!

"It's called accountability. Holding a player accountable to play up to their individual potential. When you do that...it permeates through the entire team." Your greatest ability is accountability. Because, your accountability determines how far your potential can take you.

Culture doesn't change when coach tells a player he's wrong. It changes when players tell other players: "no that's not how we do things here"

"You have to tell the players the truth. If you tell them the truth, they're going to hate you for a day. If you lie to them, they're going to hate you forever." Comfort feeds ego. Truth builds players. Average players resist truth. Elite players demand it.

“Those people who can celebrate others’ success live a more stress free, less anxious life” Choose encouragement over comparison.   The strongest teams are built by people who clap for each other’s growth, not compete with each other’s shine.

Team USA players stayed in the clubhouse so long after their win over Mexico that their buses were pushed back. @Ken_Rosenthal says it felt like a throwback to old school clubhouses — players hanging out just talking baseball.

Shane Battier shares a must-listen on what it really means to be a champion, how to be a great teammate, and how to make an impact. "The sign says, 'Champions are made when no one is looking.' I sorta laugh at that sign because there is no better sign to sum up my career than that. I lived that literally." Here's why: "My last few years in the NBA, I was first or last, depending on how you look at it - in a stat called time per possession...I was the NBA's version of hot potato." Then he did the math: "I found out that 98% of the time I was on the court, I didn't touch the ball. Only 2% of the time I actually physically touched it." "Most people watch the player with the ball or guarding the ball. So literally, when I say 'champions are made when no one's watching' - no one is watching me for 98% of the time." "But yet I was an integral part of my team. I was an integral piece in my coach's sweat when I didn't play." How did he do it? "I always looked at ways to impact the game. Boxing out. Taking charges. Sexy plays like running back on defense. All of these made up my 98% of time spent away from the ball." 98% invisible, but 100% essential. You don't have to score to make an impact on the game. The best teammates own their role. They are willing to put the team first over individual glory. (🎥 The Nantucket Project)

Lou Holtz passed away today. 🙏 One reminder he often shared: Every teammate should ask three questions: 1. Can I trust you? 2. Are you committed? 3. Do you care about me? When players can answer yes to all three… Teams become special. Lou Holtz 🥇

Novak Djokovic shares a story about mental toughness that changed how he thinks. A friend of his - a mental coach - visited a Zen Buddhism teacher at a temple in France. He asked the teacher: "How are you so calm? How is it that nothing unsettles you? You're always so serene. You don't have any negative thoughts." The teacher's answer: "It's not true. I probably have more negative thoughts and more challenging emotions than you have." "The difference between you and me is my training - and my ability to not stay in that state for a long time." Read that again and then see what he says next. "I stay in it for seconds. You stay in it for who knows?" That's the difference. It was his "next-play speed." Mentally tough people aren't absent of negative thoughts, they've just prepared and trained for them. "There's true wisdom in that. And it's all about practice." You can't stop the thoughts from coming, but you can work on the skills of focus, presence, and acceptance. Master your "next-play speed". That's the skill. (🎥 @jayshetty)
