‼️🚨 ALARMING: Google now treats privacy as suspicious behavior by default. Users of GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, /e/OS, and other deGoogled Android phones are being locked out of millions of websites unless they install the exact Google Play Services software they deliberately removed. GrapheneOS is recommended by the EFF and used by journalists, lawyers, and activists in high-risk environments. The audience most likely to read Google's data practices and refuse its terms is now flagged as fraudulent for that exact decision. What happened?: ▪️ Google announced "Cloud Fraud Defense" at Cloud Next on April 22-23, 2026, branding it "the next evolution of reCAPTCHA." Existing reCAPTCHA customers were auto-migrated. ▪️ When the system flags traffic as suspicious, the old click-the-bus puzzle is gone. Users get a QR code instead. ▪️ Scanning the QR code requires Google Play Services running on the device. Internet Archive snapshots show this requirement has been live since at least October 2025, silently rolled out for 7 months before anyone noticed. ▪️ No Play Services = no QR scan = locked out. The bigger picture: ▪️ Google already tried this in 2023. It was called Web Environment Integrity (WEI), and it would have let Google decide which devices were "real enough" to access the web. Standards bodies and the public pushed back hard, and Google killed it. Three years later, the same idea is back, just hidden behind a QR code instead of a browser feature. ▪️ reCAPTCHA runs on millions of websites. Every developer who keeps using it is now, by default, telling deGoogled Android users they're not welcome...

Reposting in opposition to expansion of the Toronto Island Airport. Save the birds!
NoJetsTO@NoJetsTO

This #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, the theme is “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter.” Here’s an observation: 100,000s of birds use the Toronto waterfront as a migratory highway. A jet-expanded Island Airport puts every single one at risk. #NoJetsTO #WMBD2026 #topoli

@drgurner The truly dystopian part is not even the decline itself. It’s watching society normalise worsening cognition, behaviour and developmental outcomes in children in real time, then acting as though noticing it is the irrational part. Those of us who speak the truth are ostracised.

I got in touch with the ship doctor b/c I wanted to figure out if I was wrong about "close contact". The prior outbreak investigation showed clearly there was spread without "prolonged close contact" but official (and unofficial) messaging for the cruise ship outbreak kept reiterating this. I was curious if maybe the on-ship dynamics were truly all "close physical contact", but that's not what I was told.

Earlier today I spoke with the doctor on the ship and he confirmed something. CDC messaging continues to say "prolonged, close contact" but that contradicts: 1) what's in the literature, and 2) what's happening on this ship. --> the doc told me a few who got infected/died DID have direct contact w/ very sick patient while treating them, but 3 who tested positive did NOT have direct physical or close contact - only shared time in a few spaces on the ship where people congregate (dining, lecture area)
Joseph Allen@j_g_allen

"close, prolonged contact" doesn't strike me as correct

I went to the ER three times after my hysterectomy and was told I was “overreacting” every time. I had a huge abscess and was bleeding internally. It took a fourth trip and a male advocate causing a scene for me to be taken seriously. Another day and I would have died.

US citizen who already filed a lawsuit after being illegally detained twice was detained FOR A THIRD TIME in Alabama. This is not an accident. They are racially profiling and this is the result. Citizens can't live in peace.

Israel is hunting people on the streets of Lebanon. A drone strike targeted a vehicle in Chouf and missed; when the men inside tried to flee, the drone targeted them again killing all three. Another drone strike targeted a vehicle at the entrance of Hiram hospital in Tyre, killing the driver.

Ukraine is one of the countries opposing the lifting of the US embargo on Cuba. In the latest UN vote, they once again voted against lifting the embargo on Cuba. Yet after the Chernobyl disaster, Cuba provided free treatment especially for children coming from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. The program began in 1990 and was carried out in the Tarará area near Havana. Around 26,000 people — the vast majority of them children — received treatment in Cuba. A significant number of them were Ukrainian children.
