How do we do this "new" way of dividing?

Over the course of this year, our Math Learning Partners (MLPs) have had the incredible opportunity to learn with Dr. Ruth Beatty through a series of sessions focused on deepening mathematical understanding. In a recent session, Dr. Beatty guided us through powerful work on interpreting intersecting trend lines using rich story problems—an approach that invites students to explore math through context, relationships, and narrative. Her work pushes us beyond procedural fluency toward relational understanding, where math becomes a tool for storytelling, comparison, and community connection. This learning has strengthened our MLPs as math leaders and directly informed our system-wide professional learning on algebraic reasoning. Gr. 4/5s @TDSB Flemington PS practised equipartitioning a length w/ the Unit #Fractions Paper Strips task. This hands-on activity was engaging and super fun for all students & a great assessment opportunity for the teacher! @mervisalo @Jason_To @LizBHolder

So impressed by the Gr. 2s @tdsb Lamberton PS! Today, they told me that the triangle is the polygon with the least number of sides, 3. And all these names come from Greek! Here they are, constructing polygons with pattern blocks. @Jason_To @LizBHolder @ldilworth1
