We’ve hit rock bottom here guys, unfortunately I can’t see Colmore Row ever getting back to its pristine state, not even 2 years, hundreds of thousands pounds was spent to repave and we now have THREE separate sections of paving stones replaced with tarmac. @BhamColmore

The combination of a tram on beautiful historical streets when I visited Strasbourg 16-17 years ago was transformational for me and my advocacy for trams. I was back there a couple of weekends ago and the trams were as popular as ever. Build more trams.

There's a big difference between progress that feels/looks like a continuation, & when it feels like a wilful violation of a beloved cityscape. The 1970s Central Library in Brum was a brutalist masterpiece but people hated - really, viscerally hated - the destruction it embodied.
