A2:This helped me 1. List each activity you engage in at work 2. Add 3 checkboxes to each row: Am I good at it? Does it make me happy? Is it only boosting my ego? (yeah, brutal) 3. Cross off the ego boosters 4. Find a job that you are good at and makes you happy #ATSchat

@GlassbeMK Not convinced that it is definitive proof that GERD causes IPF. It is evidence for a causal effect. So is WRAP-IPF.

@LungDrE @IPFdoc @gburgeILDNN @drcjar This odds ratio came from a mendelian randomization study, meaning that the instrument was genetic variants associated with GERD. I find it impressive that GERD genetic variants were associated with IPF risk. This is evidence of a causal effect.

So there we have it: GORD (GERD) causes IPF but IPF does not cause GORD! #WatchThisSpace 👏@drcjar The causal relationship between gastro-esophageal reflux disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: A bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization study medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

A4: In academic research, the focus is on knowledge generation. In industry, the focus is (generally) drug development. This means attention to strategy and risks, which are not really considered in academia. This was totally new for me! #ATSchat

@davidlederer I like - and am somewhat surprised by - the fact that clinical research background is a plus, whereas interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and clinical knowledge & experience are closer to "must-have". #ATSchat
