@debelbot @GreenpeaceUK Yeah, our chaps here at the UK branch are much more concerned with dismantling capitalism than fighting climate change, sadly

🚨 BREAKING: Around half of people who regularly tweet on the climate crisis on Twitter have LEFT since Elon Musk took over - climate denial has seen a rapid INCREASE on the site. We need to be taking radical action on the climate crisis - not debating whether or not it's real.

Soon we'll reveal our first #musicNFT collection. Right now, we're letting you in on a little secret. Watch the video to find out where the singer is from. Leave your guess in the comments. We'll give a shout-out to the first five people who guess correctly! #NFTCollection #nfts

@getify Yes, and no, the light senor is automatic, it will switch itself off after a timeout, but the cube is not going to shuffle itself. So as long you don't call cube.shuffle(), cube.solve() will be idempotent.

@debelbot the light is idempotent for that period of time (which is also de-bounced). a rubiks cube can be mixed up again (like the light going off). I'd say "inability to be reset/undone" is not all that important in idempotency, as opposed to "ignores repeated sets of a value".

Explain "idempotent" to your non-developer neighbor: Push the doorbell multiple times, it rings multiple times (annoying!): not idempotent. But the motion-activated light comes on and stays on (for like 5 minutes) no matter how many times the cat walks by: idempotent.

I was reading through some dev documentation and found the word "idempotent". I have mixed feelings about it. 1. I am extremely happy I learned a new English word 2. I am extremely annoyed that someone thought it was a great idea to use such a weird word in that context.

@tlakomy I feel there is a "cult of the new" mentality with conference talks. I always update and upgrade my talks if invited to give the same talk again, and even then I feel I am doing an uncool thing. Conversely, I also wouldn't want the same 5 talks over and over.
