Henry Billingsley is the first person to publish an English translation of #Euclid's Elements. His work is so unique that he put pop-up 3-dimensional models to explain geometric models and mathematical theorems in 1570.

archivists just discovered the first depiction of a robot in cinema. a 127-yr-old reel gathering dust in a random garage in grand rapids, michigan turned out to be a long-lost film by georges méliès from 1897. this is the first time in over a century this footage is being shown.

In 1913, J. N. Muncey of Jessup, Iowa, discovered that the first 144 odd prime numbers (treating 1 as a prime, as was sometimes done at the time) can be arranged into a magic square. When placed in a 12 × 12 grid in just the right way, every row, every column, and both main diagonals add up to the same number: 4514.
