@abysmaldogwater If you are an MJ fan, you want them back together, because Peter is MJ's true love, so why wouldn't you want her to be truly happy?

The fact that new audiences watch the show without having interacted with any fandom, and come to the conclusion that Kataang was the most logical endgame, is a sign of maturity in correctly interpreting the narrative

People are forgetting their zutarIAN history, man. The fandom moms back in ‘08 fed us so good. Misora. Sharkflip. Fandomme. Drisela. This idea that no one ships zutara organically is crazy to me. We had to BUILD a community ourselves. It’s in the DNA of modern fandom.

@FlorziChako I don't feel his redemption is the pinnacle of writing. I think Hori did a decent job, that's about it. That's why many of us didn't connect with Bakugo's journey.

"His redemption is awful, because he had no reason to bully him." ???????? I hate to tell you, but THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR DOING THAT TO ANYONE! At least the story doesn't resort to the "poor thing" trope; it makes it clear that he was privileged and loved, end of story.

I think Bakugo's haters are largely driven by their expectations of what they've become accustomed to as redemption. It needs to be a sad story that makes them feel sorry for the character. It's not common for a redemption story to happen with a character who was simply a jerk

@PenryPoinkus Not to mention that Katara becoming the Fire Lord's wife didn't look good because of the crimes committed by the Fire Nation against her people.

@PenryPoinkus Zutara doesn't have a romantic subtext. The subtext is conveyed by one or both parties showing interest beyond friendship. Zuko was romantically interested in someone else.

What a lot of newer fans don't seem to grasp about the original zutara fandom/atla shipping space as a whole was that not only was it huge, but it was filled with so much genuine hope. Like Zutara really did seem possible and even beyond the show's canon writing+

@lumaxingout ATLA isn't a revenge story. I'm sorry, but this isn't about simply staying silent and saying nothing. I understand that many defend that moment because of the ship agenda, but it's just not right.

@edelvandreload zuko was helping by just being there, it was showing that sometimes the best thing you can do for a friend facing something is to be quiet and present. this is all okay, aang's mistake was okay too because it was well meaning. it's an excellent episode on the complexity of trauma

@lumaxingout Zuko's help to Katara worked out well, but that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do.

@lumaxingout At that point in the story, Zuko did things for Aang, Sokka, and Katara to gain their acceptance. At that point in the story, Aang was more concerned about Katara's well-being than Zuko was. Friends, besides supporting you, give you advice. That's what Aang does.
