In 1992, Barq's ran a Soviet Union "going out of business" promotion. They bought a warehouse full of soviet war medals, patches, buttons, flags etc and gave it all away to folks that bought their soda. This has to be a strong contender for the weirdest promo of all time.

This morning, the White House posted targeting footage with an explosion emoji and “No pause. No hesitation.” The gamification of war in real time. This afternoon, a SpongeBob meme celebrating bombing runs in Iran. Over 1,000 people are dead. Kill footage as content wasn’t enough. Now it’s kill footage as comedy. This is a shitpost about war. The official account of the United States government is using a children’s cartoon character to celebrate bombing runs. And it normalizes escalation. People are dying. Children are dying. And these people find it entertaining.

The Hammond, IN site is almost certainly a bluff. It’s basically the size of Soldier Field, has no real parking options, and sits next to an oil refinery. Any expansion, even just for parking, could trigger $20M+ in environmental cleanup costs. That’s not a serious stadium site.
