Rwanda is making progress towards adding nuclear power to its energy mix. An IAEA Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission recently visited Rwanda to assess the country’s progress in developing the infrastructure needed for a safe, secure and sustainable nuclear power programme. Rwanda aims to have nuclear power supply 60–70% of its energy mix, with its first SMR expected to be operational in the early 2030s. The mission’s recommendations will help Rwanda further strengthen its nuclear infrastructure and advance its readiness to introduce nuclear power in line with international safety standards and global best practices. Can the world—can the international community—pretend they didn’t know? That they didn’t see this coming? This is exactly the FDLR genocidal ideology that has long been downplayed, relativized, and dismissed despite repeated warnings.
Today, it is no longer hidden. It is spoken officially and openly , on national television. The spokesperson of the Congolese army (FARDC) echoed on RTNC the first of the “Ten Hutu Commandments” published by the extremist Rwandan newspaper Kangura in 1990—in preparation of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Public calls to dehumanize Tutsi as “cockroach” and to “eliminate the virus before it spreads” are not rhetoric.
They are early-warning signs.
They are genocide preparation, copy-pasted. This constitutes a serious threat to regional peace and to #Rwanda in particular, which will never allow a repetition of its tragic history. R2P is not only about reacting after mass atrocities.
R2P also means Responsibility to Prevent. The warning signs are there.
The language is there.
The history is known. Wake up, world. 🤦🏾‍♀️ #NeverAgain #ResponsibilityToProtect #R2P #PreventGenocide#HateSpeech #FDLR #GenocideIdeology#GreatLakesRegion #Rwanda #DRC #HumanRights

@visitrwanda_now @RDBrwanda @Arsenal #VisitRwanda

There are clear efforts towards human capital development through development & support to educational & research centers of excellence, among others. More strategic investment towards becoming a high income economy & better ranking under global innovation index can be supported by higher investment in R&D as % of gross domestic income and higher investment in innovations.

RWANDA INNOVATION SURVEY 2022-2024 REPORT launch. There are important milestones achieved as a country. A couple of strategies to support innovation growth based on these data: ✅ only less than 1% of funds over annual turnover is dedicated for innovation— there is a need to support & strength financial systems for innovations. ✅ about 48% of employees in innovations-active firms have secondary or TVET education— there is a need for targeted & improved skill’s dedicated to innovation ecosystem. ✅ about 9% of new innovations go to international market- hindering global competitiveness— there a need to solidify academia industry collaboration & adoption of emerging technologies ✅ Most innovations over 70% were service-related— there is a need to unlock the potential in key industry areas of agriculture, health, energy, mining & manufacturing etc

Thanks @AndrewMwenda You have delineated all details We, Rwandans know better and have lived to experience & enjoy his exceptional leadership, and continue to learn from him.
Andrew M. Mwenda@AndrewMwenda

Today, October 23, is President Paul Kagame’s birthday. We join his family and all Rwandans to honor this towering political giant on our planet, a leader who made what was seemingly impossible, possible: the reconfiguration of the Rwandan state, the reconstruction of the Rwandan economy and the reconstitution of Rwandan society that had been tone asunder by the most horrific genocide in history. More than that, we honor a leader who pulled a country out of obscurity and oblivion into a shining star on our continent, an example of what good leadership can do for a people. He did this because he stuck to his ideals and tenaciously defended the goals he sought for his country when it would have been much more profitable to compromise them at the alter of political convenience. President Paul Kagame inspires hundreds of millions across our planet because he has defied the odds, because he has held his ground, because he has kept his word, because he has persisted and endured in the pursuit of the Rwandan dream where many would have given up. I have been traveling across Africa and witnessed so many post colonial hopes dashed because leaders, in seeking to hold power and reward friends, abandoned the goal of building the nation and serving its people and where the sacrifices of the many were turned into the benefits of a few. In Rwanda, Kagame said NO. I have watched him, at very close range, lose friends and antagonize allies who stood in the way of developing Rwanda. Today we celebrate this moral clarity and the integrity of his personality. Happy birthday my friend and hero. May you live to be 150 years and thereby defy biology the way you have defied political and military realities. A word to the haters of Kagame. I know you will come here and hurl insults and abuses at me. I forgive you because I know you envy his achievements and are tortured by his greatness. I am sorry I cannot help you out of your misery!

One day to go for Rwanda to host the 2025 road world champions: What a time to be #Rwandan. Rwandas success story reminds me of the Concept of survival of the fittest : “Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion, or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle—when the sun comes you'd better be running". While it must have seemed that we are destined to remain a hopeless basket case forever, 30yrs later, Rwanda decided to hit the ground running and here we are, #proudlyRwanda. Type for me #UCIWorldChampionship2025 🇷🇼

Great initiative by @GiantsOfAfrica empowering & providing network opportunities to African youth through sports/specifically basketball. The African youth— in most countries —have enormous opportunities to grow and become “African giants”, including educational resources, benchmarking/learning from some Africa’s/ Rwanda’s visionary leadership & enhanced technology & ICT initiatives/ communication for better/future innovative careers to become “real giants of Africa”. To all African/ Rwanda youth— take up the challenge for a brighter!!

Gratitude to BPR: They demonstrate quality service delivery. We have had a loan from @BPRbankrw for 10 years (2014-2024). After completion of loan payments, I requested @BPRbankrw leadership by an email to provide us with my family land/house deed/title which they gave us in 2 days (despite the laborious process), @RDBrwanda was also quick to respond positively. Good service delivery is becoming a culture for most Rwandan institutions. Thank you @BPRbankrw

Agree policies and resource allocation for implementation of approved policies is key. However, having worked & led several programs in West, Eastern & Southern Africa i am convinced the critical issue, is more on the management of allocated resources; inadequate accountability, compromised governance mechanisms & poor monitoring & evaluations mechanisms have often become a major havoc— limiting/leading to less resource allocations. Overall political will, and national visionary leadership is key. Just a thought!
Joseph Ryarasa Nkurunziza@JosephRyarasa

We often see a wealth of well crafted policies and strategic frameworks that, on paper, reflect vision, ambition, and commitment to progress. However, the real challenge lies not in policy formulation, but in implementation. Too often, these documents remain just that documents without translating into real change on the ground. In my view, the critical gap is the alignment between policy priorities and resource allocation. African governments must go beyond promises and begin channeling financial, human, and institutional resources toward the goals they have set. Without this alignment, even the best policies risk becoming symbolic gestures. It’s time for African nations to shift from rhetoric to results. The continent doesn’t lack ideas it needs the political will, accountability, and sustained investment to turn vision into reality. Words must now give way to concrete, measurable action. #AfricaWeWant

The initial discovery of high quality lithium metal deposits in southern province in Rwanda, is highly promising. This is key to Government of Rwanda policy to support use of EV vehicles, & broader policy on ICT & technology diffusion. Lithium is broadly used in rechargeable batteries, mobile phones, computers & several digital equipment eg cameras etc. igihe.com/amakuru/u-rwan
