I’ve spent 10+ years inside the automotive industry, 6 in combustion engines, 4 in eMobility. 🚗⚡ From factories to charging sites, I’ve seen the shift up close. This account is where I break it all down. 🧵 What you’ll find here:

@electricfelix I still wonder who sets the prices in Roaming? Is it the CPO, MSP, or some other players? Which third party margins come into play, when we discuss roaming.

"German 'charging disease' has now hit Vattenfall. Despite claiming 'fair pricing regardless of payment method', customers w/ a different charging card are paying more. This is not how roaming — the ability to use any charger with any EV, charging card or app — should work."

VATTENFALL GIVES BIG CHARGING POINT OPERATORS OF DEUTSCHLAND THE FINGER 🖕 AFFORDABLE FAST CHARGING FOR ALL OF GERMANY ⚡️⚡️⚡️ #alwaysbecharging unfortunately, just like with JET, roaming tariffs seem much higher, bring the "wrong" RFID and get screwed still @der_michi

I got my hands on the Siemens SICHARGE Flex cable at E-World and honestly, it surprised me. While everyone naturally focuses on the MW power of this system, the thing that stood out to me was the Phoenix Contact cable with Heliox's lever arm cable management system. When you pull the cable out the normal way, it feels heavy or like standard. But when you use the lever arm and grip it with two hands from the base, it feels light. Easy to maneuver. A completely different experience. I've already posted a detailed technical breakdown of the SICHARGE Flex covering power output, dispenser distances, dynamic power distribution, and the first pilot customer. If you want the full specs: x.com/etechvolution/… Have you seen this charger deployed in the field? Tried the cable yourself? Let me know in the comments. ____ I'm Haseeb, Automotive & E-Mobility Strategy Consultant and Analyst. I'm heading to China at the end of April, starting with Auto Beijing, then Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. If you're a charger manufacturer working in Europe or planning to enter, I'd love to connect. Details 👇 x.com/etechvolution/…

@OnlyPlayin This is the first time I have heard about it. But these will be required if dynamic prices / V2G are required. Do you prefer fixed prices? Or do you feel like the prices were not accurately adjusted for end consumers, even thought the energy price drop were significant.

@etechvolution smart meters are shit and dont help, you can see that in UK where its mostly used for ripping off people. You want more energy sources to lower energy prices. Thats the way to go.

Last week I appeared as a guest on the Energypreneurs Podcast with Sohail Hasnie. We went deep on Germany's EV charging landscape. Here's what we covered 🧵

@electricfelix Thanks Felix. I have setup WeChat. Should I get an ESim from here or there in China? Also what app to use for train tickets / hotel?

Seriously Felix. You have been at it since the beginning and enlightening us with all the latest news, trends, breakthroughs in E-mobility. Also the only person I know who has been challenging the status quo of E-mobility in EU on Linkedin, trying to challenge so it improves for the better. 🙏 I will reach out to you, as I am still trying to figure out how to navigate in China. 😅

@AndreasMemmer @awlnx Wow. 😮 10% was presented by TotalEnergies. But I guess we have to consider how many chargers have payment terminals as well. Because if it is not there, then for sure people will use their apps/cards etc.

90% of DC fast charging users in Germany are using RFID or fleet cards. Only 10% pay ad-hoc. I learned this just right now, at the Hauptstadtkonferenz Elektromobilität 2026. This makes sense as around 68% EV registration are used for commercial purposes in Germany. Private EV owners? These numbers will increase in coming years due to latest EV subsidies, which are only for private people belonging to middle and lower income groups. I have been talking to private people. These people won't sign up for 10 different apps, as early adopters. They'll use 2, maybe 3 subscriptions at most, perhaps won't understand the stark differences for roaming fees and later avoid them, by paying ad-hoc. So I submitted a question to the panel: "What should we do to achieve charging prices for fast charging of up to €0.50/kWh (ad hoc)? Currently, 90% of users have RFID cards, many of whom are commercial drivers. If more private individuals join, they will likely only use 2-3 apps/subscriptions and avoid roaming by paying ad hoc." The person approving the question, rejected it. Eight times. And every time I posted it again right away. In the end, it got stuck on "waiting for approval" 😅 But the conference itself is excellent. Huge credit to Berliner Agentur für Elektromobilität eMO for putting together a great program, allowing for such conversations. If you're interested, you can watch it live as well here. 👇 emo-berlin.de/hauptstadtkonf…

@electricfelix I don't know why. They allowed a question for TotalEnergies - why the adhoc prices for AC are 0.54€/kWh and 0.79€/kWh for DCFC. The answer was given only for AC that they placed the prices, 1 cent cheaper than I guess the local Stadtwerke. 😅

I'm planning a trip to China 🇨🇳 and looking to connect with e-mobility and automotive players. From the last week of April, about two weeks. Starting with Auto Beijing, then Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, but I am flexible to visit other cities as well. If you're a charger manufacturer already working in Europe or planning to enter, I'd love to visit your facility and have a discussion. I've spent 10 years in the automotive sector incl. 5 years in the e-mobility industry, and can share real insights on the European market, specifically Germany. I'm curious to see China's fast-moving automotive industry, autonomous driving, and the charging infrastructure on the ground. What are the prices? What are the use cases of charging? How do people pay? I'd love to see the BYD megawatt chargers and battery energy storage systems in action. And I really want to try a robotaxi ride. Also, if there are any industry forums, seminars, or company events where people are interested in understanding the European market, EV registrations, charging infrastructure rollout, and how it varies across different countries, I'd be happy to contribute. If it's possible, I would also love to visit an automotive or EV manufacturing facility. BYD, Xiaomi, or even a battery manufacturer like CATL. I honestly don't know how to arrange these visits, so if anyone has a tip on how to apply, I would really appreciate it. I'm Haseeb, an Automotive & E-mobility consultant/analyst based in Germany. I've worked with GM, Toyota, Honda, McLaren, Opel, and on the EV charging side with Shell, Total, and logistics operators. I now run eTechvolution, covering the European EV charging industry, consulting clients in space of E-mobility and write a newsletter read by 2,300+ professionals. 👇 etechvolution.com/consulting Any recommendations, introductions, or tips would be greatly appreciated. Drop a comment or send me a message. Thank you!
