My plans at first were to go to Japan. I was gonna take the last 2-3 months of the year as a little mental break, financial break. I was gonna go overseas and do it the right way this time. Then 5 days after I tweeted that tweet [about leaving WWE ID], Tony Khan texted me, so plans changed.”

With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it was hard enough just to get selected for matches, and on top of that, it coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, so I couldn’t wrestle as much as I wanted to. In the midst of that, I was assigned a high school girl character. I had gone there intending to bring the strength of Japanese women’s pro-wrestling with me, but the reality of what was expected of me was different, and it was painful. Due to the stress, I developed a massive craving for sweets. There were times when, even after lunch, I would eat an American-sized parfait followed by a big–sized Häagen-Dazs, and my face would end up covered in acne. Still, I did my absolute best. Looking back now, all of it has become nourishment for my experience, so not a single bit of it was a waste.”
