@StridentNights thanks for the constructive feedback ✊🏻 i've felt as though i needed to prove i was on a low income when i've requested cheap tix before, ur absolutely right to remove as many barriers as possible

@friendlyheadb It’s fair enough, good on ya and I’m certainly not “having a go”. I list a few completely free tix every month for my shows and they don’t always go. But as someone who grew up without a penny I know how rare it is to get something for free without jumping through a hoop or two.

charging at least a tenner~ for a diy gig should be completely standard, but i think we've been utterly spoiled by free or dirt cheap shows that we look at anything over £7 as "a bit expensive for what it is" - as if diy bands don't deserve fair compensation

@StridentNights sorry i should make it clear that i offer discounted ticket options for those who can't afford. but i would also encourage people to dm me if they can't afford that either. but i hear u 100%

@friendlyheadb Was with you on the first point. But it’s important that people who can’t afford stuff don’t have to ask for handouts.

diy promoters have a duty of care to pay artists fairly but they also have the burden of risk, we deserve to put on shows that make enough money to break even after costs but we also have a duty of care to the scene, and making gigs financially accessible!!! a balancing act!

you'll never catch me selling adv tix for £4 ever again!! if you can afford a tenner you should pay a tenner and support the scene. if you can't afford a tenner then there's no shame in reaching out!
