A reported incident where a ₩2,000 deposit allegedly got credited as 2,000 BTC, and BTC on the exchange briefly crashed to $55,566.
What I'm trying to understand -
1) 249 users received 2,000 BTC each, that’s about 498,000 BTC.
2) But reports say about 620,000 BTC was actually credited, with about 618,212 BTC recovered.
3) However, according to regulatory disclosures, Bithumb supposedly held about 42,794 BTC in total by the end of last year.
Then the key question here - was this an on-chain issue, or an internal ledger error?
Either way, Proof of Reserve matters.
This is why Self-Custody wins in the end.
