I feel as though pushing an article on disinformation about London and then keeping your comments closed is a bit counterintuitive of what politicians should be doing and what politics should be about.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

Disinformation about London has become a global industry. The new “outrage economy” is growing - and it’s eating away at the bonds that hold our society together. That's why I'm calling for urgent action from social media companies and government. theguardian.com/media/2026/apr…

@Rimmy_Downunder The French gave the the real life counterpart (AMX-10) to the Ukrainians a few years ago early in the war, and from what I’ve read, they hated it, it was hard to traverse with

@Rimmy_Downunder It's a Humber x Saladin situation. Clearly not French, it would look nicer.

We often make a fuss about accurate labelling on all sorts of products, whether it's Halal meat or calorie counts for chocolate. I think it should be compulsory to label every single product with the amount of the price that's attributable to tax. It's one thing to abstractly state that VAT is 20%, that stamp duty is this or that rate, that a windfall tax on energy companies sits at this percentage of profit. It's another thing entirely to have a handy little pie chart on everything that shows how much the government is adding to your cost of living. Businesses would benefit because it would (accurately) shift much of the blame for high prices onto the real culprit. The public would benefit because their vague political preferences would have a much clearer price mechanism displaying the cost of their "free" stuff. Damn near any political party not religiously wedded to high taxation would benefit because it would free them of the burden of arguing for lower taxes (at which they are uniformly terrible). (I'd also be in favour of an annual itemized receipt - akin to a pension statement - sent to every household breaking down precisely where and on what your tax money is being spent.)

That awkward moment when you are shown to be the cause of high fuel prices…

🚨 HMS DRAGON DOCKYARD WORKERS CLOCKING OFF AT 5PM Fresh reports claim work to repair HMS Dragon is only proceeding during standard 9–5 dockyard hours, as the Royal Navy destroyer remains out of action. The Type 45 air-defence destroyer was expected to return to readiness sooner, but the timeline has slipped again, with the battleship not ready for at least another week. The delay has drawn further criticism at a time when danger remains high, particularly around RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, where British forces are already on heightened alert. One would expect a round-the-clock commitment to get the ship ready to sail. Yet more woeful embarrassment. 🎥 ITV

The Sagrada Família reaches its highest point following the placement of the upper arm of the cross of the tower of Jesus Christ. As is a tradition in construction, the Catalan flag is hoisted, indicating that the tower structure is complete and that there were no incidents, as well as the Vatican flag, as it is the Catholic Church’s tallest Temple.

@raelbrav It took 5.9 million working class people to show “rare judgement, exceptional resilience and outstanding courage – the ability to make decisions under relentless pressure.” To fight Facism in WW2. An ambitious generation forced to fight under terrible odds, not enough?

@raelbrav While im no fan of Angela Rayner, being working class doesn’t mean you have a low level of thought or judgment, you speak as though those of us born from working class backgrounds are naturally not as capable as those of us from privileged backgrounds, this is what sews division.
