Islamabad : 9 April 2026 Prime Ministerโ€™s Telephone Call with the Prime Minister of Italy. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, today. Appreciating Pakistanโ€™s successful diplomatic efforts for the U.S.-Iran ceasefire and resumption of dialogue, Prime Minister Meloni felicitated the Prime Minister on hosting the forthcoming peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, in Islamabad. While underscoring the genuine and sincere desire of Pakistan for peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the joint statement issued by key European and international leaders, including Prime Minister Meloni, in support of Pakistanโ€™s peace efforts. The two leaders also expressed their serious concern over the ongoing hostilities in Lebanon, and agreed on the need for coordinated international efforts to prevent further escalation, so as to pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.
