@FanDuelSN @WindhorstESPN Vegas doesn’t have a metro area of locals who can support a team. Only reliant on tourists. Locals can’t afford tickets

Will the Las Vegas community support its own NBA team? 🏀🤔 FOX5's Jaclyn Schultz spoke to Dr. Amanda Belarmino of the College of Hospitality at UNLV. “Men’s professional basketball is such a hot commodity right now, not just within the country, but globally." Story: fox5vegas.com/2026/03/25/tou…

Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley on the possibility of an #NBA team as expansion talks continue: “Las Vegas is home to the best and biggest events and entertainment and now we are the world’s arena for major league sports. Las Vegas has always been a basketball city dating back to the heydays of the Runnin’ Rebels and we are excited for the possibility of adding an NBA franchise. The NBA has always been a glamourous and glitzy league and that fits perfectly with the Vegas brand.” @KTNV

Magic Johnson is aggressively pursuing a majority ownership stake in a future NBA expansion team in Las Vegas. Johnson met with Nevada governor Joe Lombardo and others this month to discuss his plan of ownership and building a state-of-the-art arena on the Las Vegas Strip. The Lakers legend is already a minority owner of the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Sparks, Los Angeles FC, and NWSL’s Washington Spirit.

@esidery Why would they build a new arena when T-Mobile Arena is already on the Las Vegas strip and is perfect for an NBA team?

On a personal note, where do casino folks get their work shoes? Is there a go-to place for everyone who needs “comfortable, black, closed-toe” shoes?

@jasonkredline Vegas only cares about the strip properties. Locals can’t afford to goto games. Most cities have a larger metro to draw from. You’re an idiot

The pushback on Vegas getting a team is so hilarious to me. People do not understand this town at all, and the deceptive headlines, ignore the reality that this is one of the best, most profitable, proffessional sports towns in America for three reasons 1. The local community happily gets behind winners. The Golden Knights are one of the best attended sports franchises in America, consistently selling out, and this is driven by locals, not by tourists. 2. Tourists travel to games, and professional sports are live entertainment, fitting perfectly on the strip. 3. This is the biggest one, that I’ve never seen talked about. Owning an arena that can do live events, concerts etc, is unbelievably profitable on the strip. Vegas is the king of concerts, owning an arena where you can make money renting it out for live events in Vegas is printing money. Can’t wait for our team!

Jaylen Brown calls out players and fans who’ve switched up on the 65-game rule: “The contrary in the past was that guys would be playing 40-50 games and be up for All-NBA, and their numbers would be better versus somebody who played 68-72 games… You basically came to work half the time and got awarded for it.” (via @gabe_blessed, h/t @PolymarketHoops)
