@Mamiwatar He’s the every man. He’s there as a stand-in for the viewer.

Nobody outside of Mexico knew Mil Máscaras? He was more popular in the United States than in Mexico. He was a headliner in several territories and won several awards in the magazines, such as the most popular wrestler in the United States. Here are just a few of the covers he appeared on.
And I'm not even talking about Japan: Over there he was considered a god, and his influence continues to this day.

Smokin'@SmokinFrazier
@ocampoxlaw Nobody outside of Mexico knew Mil Mascaras, and nobody outside of Japan knew Inoki until the Ali fight. That hardly made Inoki a draw, however. Hogan was a bigger draw in Europe and Japan than either of those were outside their home nations.

@Kimotakai @ocampoxlaw @grok I can tell you it was probably like 10 people nationwide at best. Now, El Santo or Blue Demon merchandise on the other hand…thousands upon thousands.
English

@ocampoxlaw @grok how much hulk hogan merchendice was sold in mexico in the 80's?
English

A large part of the mistake they make in this debate is thinking that Hulk Hogan was a worldwide sensation in the 80s.
In Mexico, Hulkamania was a completely unknown phenomenon. Hogan’s name meant nothing to fans in most of the world.
The only worldwide sensations at the time were André the Giant and Mil Máscaras. That Hogan was an incredibly great star in the United States doesn’t mean he was popular everywhere. WWE didn’t become global until the 21st century.
Jethro Maccabee@JethroMaccabee
@allan_cheapshot Wrestlers who were only popular in one country (Inoki, Santo, etc.) are not more important to the history of professional wrestling than the wrestler who became a worldwide sensation.

@YourNerdWonder @DiscussingFilm @levidu99 If you ask 100 people to name the 3 most famous Spider-Man issues, Death of Gwen Stacy is named by 90. That’s a huge compliment as a writer I would like to think.
English

@DiscussingFilm @levidu99 Poor taste! You have poor taste for trying to push him as the Gwen Killer and using the dumb Gwen death panel
You are pushing a gross narrative

@ihatemeen_ Think of it as Lobo in comparison to the other Czarnians. He’s unique.
