SHOCKING details read out by father Mark Nowak regarding the murder of his son Henry. - As blood filled his chest, Henry Nowak tried desperately to escape. Instead, he was chased and subjected to further abuse. - When police arrived, Henry was lying on the ground, unable to sit up and clearly suffering severe medical distress. - With his final words, he told officers nine times that he could not breathe. - He also repeatedly told them that he had been stabbed four times. - One officer responded: “I don’t think you have, mate.” - Police later claimed they had been misled by the murderer. - Henry’s father, Mark Nowak, believes the truth is far simpler. - Both Henry and a member of the public who called 999 told police that Henry had been stabbed. - Despite these warnings, officers failed to believe them. - Henry was dragged across gravel and placed in handcuffs. - Police arrested Henry for assault and read him his rights. According to his father, those were the last words Henry heard before he died. - Mark Nowak says his son was denied even the dignity of a proper death. - Henry should never have died on the streets of Southampton while in police custody. - Meanwhile, his killer, Vikram Digwa, was afforded a level of decency that Henry was not. Reports suggest he was not even handcuffed when arrested. - Officers reportedly took Digwa to the kitchen and allowed him to choose his own food.

@andygamblor Same laws for everyone, that's how a society works. Some religions want to carry weapons, some want to torture animals to death, there are probably other exemptions we don't know about. None of it is acceptable in Britain, we pass laws for a reason, they must apply to everyone.

The killer was carrying a 21cm blade that wasn’t even a normal kirpan, his actual kirpan was found still around his neck. So the “ban the kirpan” reaction is punishing an entire faith for a weapon that wasn’t really the thing they want banned and will do nothing to stop the knife crime epidemic in the UK. But here’s the part that none of the “wake up” “reform” crew are actually thinking about because they’re so focused on “making foreigners integrate or deport, wake up bro” Sikhs are concentrated in tight marginal seats — the West Midlands, West London, Leicester. With the entire right voting to ban a core article of their faith and Labour positioned to defend it, who do you think a community of half a million voters breaks for at the next election? The right is about to hand Labour a loyal voting bloc, for free, on principle, and calling it a win. @H4RRP This isn't about Sikh's, it's about having the same laws for everyone. Many law-abiding people would like to carry a weapon for self defence, or the defence of others, but even pepper spray is illegal. We must have the same laws for everyone, no exceptions.

A murderer is responsible for murder. Not an entire faith. Sikhs have lived peacefully in the UK for decades while carrying the kirpan. There is no evidence of a widespread problem. Punish the individual. Don't stigmatise millions of law-abiding Sikhs because of one cowardly act

A few months ago Sikhs were being held up as the example of a minority everyone should admire. One crime later, and suddenly some of the same people want Sikh religious exemptions removed. It’s almost as if the issue was never really the religion.
