@barneyfarmer The daft thing about it is that the North Sea is more or less exhausted anyway. They’ve been drilling it for 50-60 years, so anything that was there to be found has more or less already been found. The ban on drilling will reduce tail-end production by a bit, but just a bit.

Inclined to think the permanent and unyielding ban on new North Sea oil and gas will last exactly as long as it takes for a new and sufficiently lucrative field to be identified and a generous corporate donor to one or both parties to say ‘make the case’.
